I was the team manager of The Master’s University Mustangs in the GSAC in NAIA DI from 2010-14. One of the players I had the pleasure of working with each day for a couple of seasons was Logan Quinn. He brought energy and enthusiasm every day to practices and games. His basketball journey took him from University of Arkansas Little Rock Trojans to the Master’s University Mustangs to the Missouri Baptist University Spartans and back to The Master’s University Mustangs as a player. He has a passion for basketball and that led him to being a graduate manager with the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricanes and now as the associate head coach with the Southern Arkansas University Muleriders. During the offseason, Logan would work with Mike Penberthy who made 444 threes on the Mustangs and train professional basketball players including Paul George, Andre Igoudala, Jrue and Justin Holiday, Kyle Korver and Jeff Adrien.
Logan shared his thoughts on his excitement and drive to be a basketball coach with me and he wrote, “I always knew I wanted to be a coach. I want to impact young men in a positive way, and basketball is my passion. So it’s been perfect for me as far as a career. I enjoy every aspect of coaching. The camaraderie of what a team sport is all about, the long days in the office, watching film, coming up with a game plan that fits what we are trying to do as a team, the workouts-both individual and team, recruiting, I love it all. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me and my wife. (They got married on August 3rd and Logan got hired as an assistant coach for the Southern Arkansas University Muleriders.) Coaching has its challenges: long nights, many days away from home, pressure to win from fans but also from your own personal competitive nature, etc. But I have a passion for coaching the game, and not a lot of people are fortunate enough to make their passion into a career. I’m excited about the future!”
