Drew Church is the assistant men’s basketball coach for the Central Washington University Wildcats in Ellensburg, Washington. He and Wildcats head coach Brandon Rinta came to CWU from the LCSC Warriors in Lewiston, Idaho. In sharing advice with me, coach Church wrote, “As a young college coach, be prepared to execute small, off the court tasks. This is one of the best ways you can help your program! Travel, arrangements, ordering team gear, organizing fundraisers, academic monitoring, etc. In order to EARN more responsibilities, head coaches must trust that you can handle these small tasks before they put bigger jobs on your plate.”
