I’d like to thank Macalester College Scots men’s basketball head coach Abe Woldeslassie for contributing to my series of basketball journey posts of coaches and players. The Scots play in the MIAC in NCAA DIII.
In sharing his journey with me, coach Woldeslassie wrote, “My first college coaching position was at Bowdoin College. I was an assistant coach for two seasons there. I then went to Dartmouth College and served as the director of basketball operations for one season. After Dartmouth, I went to Davidson College and was the director of basketball operations there for three seasons. I then moved on to Siena College and was an assistant coach there for two seasons.
I am now in my second season as the head coach at Macalester College. I graduated from Macalester in 2008 and played two seasons on the basketball team here. Macalester is a top 25 liberal arts college located in St. Paul, Minnesota. It is an honor to coach at Mac and to work with the student-athletes we have here. “
This year, the Scots have 3 players (Eric Sathy, Gabriel Ramos and Jackson Henningfield) who are each averaging double figures in points per game. Jackson Henningfield leads the Scots by averaging 8.8 rebounds per game. Gabriel Ramos leads the Scots by averaging 4.4 assists per game. Gabriel Ramos and Tyler McFarland lead the Scots by each averaging 0.6 steals per game. Shane Anderson leads the Scots by averaging 1.8 blocks per game. I am looking forward to seeing how the Scots perform in MIAC play in the 2019-20 campaign.
