NOLAN SMITH IS AN ASSISTANT COACH FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE CARDINALS IN LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY IN THE ACC IN NCAA DI COACHED BY KENNY PAYNE. NOLAN’S FATHER DEREK SCORED 1,826 CAREER POINTS, WAS A MEMBER OF THE 1980 NCAA DI MEN’S BASKETBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE CARDINALS AND IS A MEMBER OF THE CARDINALS HALL OF FAME. NOLAN PLAYED FOR THE DUKE UNIVERSITY BLUE DEVILS WHEN HE WAS THE ACC PLAYER OF THE YEAR IN 2011, HELPED THE BLUE DEVILS WIN 3 CONSECUTIVE ACC CHAMPIONSHIPS AND WIN THE 2010 NCAA DI MEN’S BASKETBALL NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. HE WAS A SPECIAL ASSISTANT, DIRECTOR OF BASKETBALL OPERATIONS AND PLAYER DEVELOPMENT AND AN ASSISTANT COACH FOR THE DUKE UNIVERSITY BLUE DEVILS PRIOR TO JOINING THE COACHING STAFF FOR THE CARDINALS. HE IS ALSO THE CO-HOST OF THE POWER CHECK BALL PODCAST WITH MARC ISENBERG.
