I WOULD LIKE TO THANK JOE PETERSON WHO IS THE HEAD COACH FOR DAWSON COMMUNITY COLLEGE BUCCANEERS IN GLENDIVE, MONTANA IN THE MON-DAK ATHLETIC CONFERENCE IN NJCAA FOR SHARING ADVICE FOR FUTURE COACHES AND THOUGHTS ON THE 2023-24 CAMPAIGN WITH THE CANNON NETWORK. HE SHARRED, “AS A YOUNG COACH AND ALL THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER, BE A LIFELONG LEARNER. GO WATCH OTHER TEAMS PRACTICE, TALK TO OTHER COACHES, LISTEN TO GOOD PODCASTS AND READ BOOKS ON A REGULAR BASIS. DON’T GET CAUGHT UP IN THE WINS AND LOSSES TOO MUCH, BUT REMEMBER THAT IT IS ABOUT LEARNING AND GROWING YOUR PLAYERS AS PLAYERS, STUDENTS AND MEN. “I WAS REALLY PROUD OF OUR SEASON. WE HAD A GREAT GROUP OF YOUNG MEN THAT WORKED REALLY HARD ON THE COURT AND IN THE CLASSROOM. THEY DID EVERYTHING I ASKED THEM TO. THEY WERE FUN TO BE AROUND AND REALLY BOUGHT IN AND BELIEVED IN WHAT WE WERE DOING. I’M PROUD OF WHAT WE ACCOMPLISHED WITH MOSTLY FRESHMAN ON OUR ROSTER AND I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO HOW THEY WILL GROW DURING THIS OFF-SEASON AND COME BACK NEXT YEAR.”
