I’D LIKE TO THANK JUSTIN SOBCZYK WHO IS THE HEAD COACH FOR THE PALM DESERT HIGH SCHOOL AZTECS IN PALM DESERT, CALIFORNIA FOR SHARING ADVICE FOR YOUNG COACHES WITH THE CANNON NETWORK. HE SHARED, “BE A STUDENT OF THE GAME, ENJOY THE PROCESS. EMBRACE THE HIGHS AND THE LOWS, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY NEVER LOSE SITE OF WHY YOU COACH. FIND YOUR “WHY” AND JUMP IN WITH TWO FEET. MY “WHY” IS MY PLAYERS. PLAIN AND SIMPLE, MY PLAYERS MEAN THE WORLD TO ME. THEY ARE THE REASON I WAKE UP AT 5AM FOR PRACTICE, THEY ARE THE REASON I STAY UP LATE WATCHING FILM, THEY ARE THE REASON I LOSE SLEEP AT NIGHT TRYING TO GAME PLAN FOR A BIG GAME OR FIGURING OUT ADJUSTMENTS AFTER A BIG LOSS. IT’S NOT FOR ME, IT’S TO GIVE EACH AND EVERYONE ONE OF MY PLAYERS A CHANCE TO BE SUCCESSFUL AND GET THE MOST OUT OF THEIR ABILITIES. NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO GO TO THE NBA, BUT EVERY SINGLE PLAYER CAN GET THE ABSOLUTE MOST OUT OF THEIR ABILITIES. THAT IS MY “WHY” MY PLAYERS ARE MY “WHY”.
