Yee Tran is an assistant coach for the Stan State Warriors in Turlock, California coached by Paul Trevor in the CCAA in NCAA DII. In sharing his advice with me, coach Tran wrote,  “My advice to young coaches is always be loyal to the head coach. Players will always come to an assistant coach to vent. It is my job to speak the same language as the head coach. I love to build trust with a player by getting in the gym with them individually. Nothing beats spending time with them. As a young coach worry about being great at the institution you are at and not worry about your next move. I don’t agree with networking it sounds like a business. I believe in building relationships with other coaches. I will only work for somebody that personally know.”
